Did You See The Eclipse?

Did you??
It was the coolest sight.Really.
I didn't know it was eclipse day, but thanks to bbm , I got broadcast messages from a few friends informing me of the event. Okay, I'll be honest. First I thought- Miss, because one of the people who sent me the broadcast messages was annoying me a little bit, so I certainly did not want to be partaking in any activity they were participating in you know? I know, petty but I can be like that depending on my mood. But obviously, I am not that person.I told myself stop being an ass, and consequently I stopped.
I went out to my balcony and saw it , and wow- what a spectacle. The night was clear, the moon uncharacteristically in full view, slowly but surely getting covered by the shadow. The side that hadn't yet been covered was sparkling ,shining. It was kind of like all of nature was aware of the spectacular-ity  of the occurring and played along with it, put on a show for its audience.  I swear to God, I have never seen the moon shine like that, so glorious , so playful, so magnetic. I quickly ran down and told my mum to come out and see it. The view from my balcony was obviously much better because there weren't a hundred trees obstructing it, yet we stood there mesmerized , soaking it all in ,not wanting to miss a single second of it.
And I stood there thinking, God really does exist. There are no two ways about it.
I would like to say that I went through a spiritual epiphany and bus, I'm a changed person, turned over a new leaf blah,blah- not true obviously. But its at times like these when it hits me how inconsequential all my occupancies are, and that little piece of  knowledge is so liberating.I guess its part of everyone's nature to think that our little world is of primordial importance, and to at times feel weighed down by what seems like the ginormous responsibility of it all, and then you see the dance of the moon, the sun and the earth and your like 'wow, there's something much bigger, and far greater than everything I think is important'- and you think that that might be scary, but somehow it isn't. It kind of opens up the possibility of new realities you know? different from what you may have imagined before. The balance of your world is slightly disrupted. Nothing is an ultimate in its own self. Its strangely relieving to acknowledge the possibility  that you might not know anything about the world you live in.
I stared in amazement for a while- but changed spots, my mother went inside the house and I went to my balcony, the view was infinitely better. When the moon was entirely covered- it seemed like a ball suspended in mid air, and I kept waiting for it to fall, knowing it wouldn't. Usually, the moon- seems very flat, very 2D haina? but on that night you could see the 3Dness of it-hence the ball suspended in mid air.
Pretty Cool.

Then my sister came and interrupted my admiring session, she had some real life issues that needed to be discussed, and so- back to reality.

How Could Hayden??

So I've been watching Master Chef Australia on and off for the past month or so. It comes on at perfect timing- dinner time...and almost everyone in my house is quite involved in the show. Its only recently I found out that the situation was very similar in a lot of  friends' households as well. Not surprisingly, Hayden - the blond , beachie surfer guy is a  fan favorite. Almost everyone who watches that show, wanted him to win. He has this easy charm, and I dunno- is very likeable.

That's why last night's episode was so sad. Hayden was eliminated. This might come as a surprise, but considering how he had performed in the last few tasks- I hate to say it, but he had it coming. Still, it was heart breaking. I was near tears- almost. It was just soooo sad when Michael and Hayden started talking about the love (platonic) they had for each other, and how great friends they were, and how they had imagined to be pitted against each other but at the finals, not before. Before the decision was told, Michael admitted, that irrespective of who passed the challenge, there would be a loss for both. I didn't know this, but apparently they had been roommates from day one, got on like a "house on fire", and were the bestest of friends. Can you imagine? and even more soul crushing? When it was announced hat Hayden was leaving, Michael kinda cried. I could see the tears in Hayden's eyes too. I think it was the most genuine moment I've ever witnessed on reality television.
Other than that,  apparently it seems like I'm not the only one who sensed something between Hayden and Ellie.I can't pinpoint when I felt it, and again its not like I've seen every episode that I'd know for sure, but I remember feeling one day that something might be brewing between them and I think I was right. Apparently the two shared a moment on cameras, and well who knows what happened off-cameras in the house you know? Irrespective I really appreciate that in the show, they only show the challenge /task part of it- never the internal dynamics. Otherwise who knows- we would have been seeing Australian Jersey Shore.

What else? Oh yes. I know I should probably be happy about this, but I hate it-  the remaining contestants are primarily women. 4 women and One man. WTH? Like seriously, I think none of those women are anything spectacular, they just manage to scrape by, they hardly ever bring anything new to the table- like perhaps Billy did, or Hayden did.Okay maybe Dani does, but the rest? maybe I haven't watched the show closely enough, but it kinda feels scripted. I'm seriously rooting for Michael. I have no idea  what frumpy, chirpy, extra chirpy and average are doing in the top five.

Anyway, Hayden has a website with all sorts of info in them in addition to his recipes. The tostadas look good.

Riccardo Tisci is Indescribable.

I've never really thought of Givenchy as a serious apparel brand, instead have always associated it more with cosmetics and parfums rather than RTW, Couture, or even accessories. Maybe its because I came after the generation of Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina, and Breakfast at Tiffany's- so I never really bothered with it. Frankly speaking don't even remember seeing many ads in magazines, or even much talk about the label. Until now.
For the past few seasons, the buzz about Givenchy has been growing, and now I know why. Their Creative Director is a genius. Riccardo Tisci. I remember seeing his clutches and being blown away by the unbelievableness of the design. I loved them. However, what I feel for the clutches is minuscule, almost non-existing in comparison to what I experienced when viewing his Fall 2011 Couture collection. Yes, this happened way back in July,  but ---- me the dresses are gorgeous beyond belief. I know I've said this many times before but I swear, this time its different.

I'm again having a Valentino moment, where I feel nothing I can say would ever be enough , yet somehow I cant help my self from sharing what I feel. I must at least try.
The 10 pieces of the couture collection were pure, and white for the most part.  They could be described as fragile, delicate, intricate, other worldly, saint-like, virgin, heavenly, light...the adjectives could go on and on but the true feeling could never be expressed. But trust me, when you see them you'll know. Each piece was handmade, taking a month to make in total hours spent on each one, the embellishments- painstakingly exquisite. And you know, you can see the labour of love that went into them. These pieces are something you'd find in an angel's closet- and no, not a Victoria's Secret Angel . Long, sleek and romantic in every little detail, Riccardo Tisci's collection displays unparalleled technique and  extraordinary vision. The elements in his designs work so beautifully with and against each other, there juxtaposition is no less than a divine revelation. The sheerness, the lacework, the beaded fringes, the hand-encrusted pearls and crystals placed to mimic exactly the pattern of Ostrich skin, the ruffles and of course the nagging feeling that you have just walked into a beautiful dream. Tisci leaves us awe-struck.

Honestly, When I saw this collection- I thought to myself, I have to meet this guy. Is it weird that I'm curious? P.S- Italian born, kinda cute. Am working on finding out if he's straight.Any guesses?
