Really Cool Nails

Fashionologie, has picked up on this runway trend of dark, inky nail tips. I think they look really cool. I really wanna try this out properly, only I dont have the required patience for nail art. I think its a refreshing change from the bright, coral hues I've been seeing a lot, and they aren't quite as stark and goth as the really dark, vampirish nail colors that have been doing the rounds. Its a wonderful, edgy, and slightly messy mix of two different looks. Oh and I love little messy.

Cool right? Like they have been dipped in a paint can. Kinda reminiscent of Prabal Gurung's SS 2012 collection na ?

Riccardo Tisci is Indescribable.

  I've never really thought of Givenchy as a serious apparel brand, instead have always associated it more with cosmetics and parfums rather than RTW, Couture, or even accessories. Maybe its because I came after the generation of Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina, and Breakfast at Tiffany's- so I never really bothered with it. Frankly speaking don't even remember seeing many ads in magazines, or even much talk about the label. Until now.
 For the past few seasons, the buzz about Givenchy has been growing, and now I know why. Their Creative Director is a genius. Riccardo Tisci. I remember seeing his clutches and being blown away by the unbelievableness of the design. I loved them. However, what I feel for the clutches is minuscule, almost non-existing in comparison to what I experienced when viewing his Fall 2011 Couture collection. Yes, this happened way back in July,  but ---- me the dresses are gorgeous beyond belief. I know I've said this many times before but I swear, this time its different.

I'm again having a Valentino moment, where I feel nothing I can say would ever be enough , yet somehow I cant help my self from sharing what I feel. I must at least try.
The 10 pieces of the couture collection were pure, and white for the most part.  They could be described as fragile, delicate, intricate, other worldly, saint-like, virgin, heavenly, light...the adjectives could go on and on but the true feeling could never be expressed. But trust me, when you see them you'll know. Each piece was handmade, taking a month to make in total hours spent on each one, the embellishments- painstakingly exquisite. And you know, you can see the labour of love that went into them. These pieces are something you'd find in an angel's closet- and no, not a Victoria's Secret Angel . Long, sleek and romantic in every little detail, Riccardo Tisci's collection displays unparalleled technique and  extraordinary vision.The elements in his designs work so beautifully with and against each other, there juxtaposition is no less than a divine revelation. The sheerness, the lacework, the beaded fringes, the hand-encrusted pearls and crystals placed to mimic exactly the pattern of Ostrich skin, the ruffles and of course the nagging feeling that you have just walked into a beautiful dream. Tisci leaves us awe-struck.

 

Honestly, When I saw this collection- I thought to myself, I have to meet this guy. Is it weird that I'm curious? P.S- Italian born, kinda cute. Am working on finding out if he's straight.Any guesses?

The Boating Sweater

 The weather's become real nice these days. The days are cool, and the nights are cooler and slightly windy.
Its the start of the few months when we can actually sit outside on the terrasse of a restaurant and really enjoy it. Winters in Lahore are like spring elsewhere  in the world. The first chill brings about a silent promise for  great few months ahead. Unlike the great Canadian winter, you can actually enjoy fall/winter fashion here- which is one of the greatest if not THE greatest plus of moving back here. Also, guys look adorable in sweaters and jackets provided they don't like like they are trying too hard, because as you all may very well know by now- I'm allergic to that.
I personally don't love cardigans on a guy. Or even like. But I get that guys really enjoy wearing them. They think they look fashion forward, or 'out there' or preppy- which is great, and tbh they do look all these things, some in a good way some in a not-so-good way- but I guess the objective is achieved.And I also get that there are a lot of girls who find guys in cardigans adorable. I see where they are coming from too, but somehow I never warmed up to them.My personal choices for guys are the basics : hoodies,pull overs, crew/v-neck sweaters, and my absolute favorites-army green parkas. In fact my obsession with my jacket is due to my adoration of guys in parkas. Like an homage to how good they look in them. Now of course I get that Lahore isn't cold enough for a parka. So I won't even go there. But one thing I will push for is guys in striped sweaters. Only today I found out that the proper "fashion" term for them is Breton's fisherman sweaters. They were originally designed for the french navy- and well the Breton has those two buttons on the side of the neck , but other than that, its your classic striped one. Snug fit, which means biceps need more work for winter than summer- but well worth it.  The colors can range from one end of the rainbow to the other. Really. If you wanna show how "out there" you are, wear a neon stripy. They look sooo good.
See let me explain the science behind it. Horizontal stripes create an optical illusion causing the wearer of the stripes appear broader. Guys- that is never a bad thing.For those who think that the stripes are feminine (you know who you are) , get it in blue /black/grey- they can be as subtle as you want , and if it still bothers you there are versions out there with hoods. See! easy fix. For those who want preppy- it can't get preppier than this. Or cuter.
The other day , I saw a friend of mine a striped sweater -grey and red. Reminded me of how happy I am that winter is finally coming. Also, girls should feel free to raid their guy's closet and wear their sweaters. Long , and loose looks so good with skinnies and booties. Perfect winter everyday.
